Carbon Cutting Fund Reopens To Applications

Applications are being invited to the winter round of the Carbon Trust’s Applied Research Grant scheme.

Businesses, academics, research institutions, public sector bodies and voluntary groups are all eligible to bid for funding worth up to £500,000 to carry out innovative projects that can reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

Grants are particularly targeted at the development and commercialisation of low carbon technologies, with extra funding on offer for collaborative projects.

Projects will be assessed against a range of criteria, including:

  • Its potential for reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
  • Evidence of need.
  • The track record and experience of the applying organisation.
  • Level of innovation involved.
  • That the results of the work will allow a clear step forward on the path towards commercialisation.
  • Value for money.
  • Evidence of funding secured from other sources.

The latest funding round is open to applications until 18 February 2010. A further application window will be launched in April.

Unfortunately, all funding for the 2009-10 period in Scotland has already been allocated and no new applications will be accepted.
